Abstract

Czechoslovak universities 1938–1945

This article deals with the Czechoslovak higher education system from 1938 to 1945. The Munich Agreement on September 30, 1938, and the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia on March 15, 1939, following the establishment of the independent Slovak Republic led to the disintegration of the higher education system and its decomposition into individual national
components. However, the author pays attention to the importance of separatist tendencies at the time of the First Czechoslovak Republic and undertakes a comparison of the development of Czech, Slovak and German higher education in the former Czechoslovak Republic after 1938 and generally
emphasizes the importance of the so-called Second Czechoslovak Republic.
