Abstract

National socialist cultural policy in Düsseldorf 1933–1945.

Sona Mikulová analyses the cultural policy of the Düsseldorf town council, the other state institutions and national socialist organisations in the „Third Reich“. Mikulová focuses on the constitution and development of the contemporary art museum, examining the most important art exhibitions, and other cultural events in Düsseldorf in order to show how national socialist cultural ideology was implemented in the local policy, who was involved and how they were able to influence the cultural policy, and what were the regional particularities.
